  1. Wow! Is this a new direction for you? At first glance, this looks like “American Primative meets Monet”. Any comment on the linear elements? There are hard edged horizontal and vertical components, almost like an early 20th Century Abstact expressionist painting. It’s Germanic looking. Then the French element, a softening with the purples, the blues and then the yellows and oranges. I hope you stick with this style for a bit; I’d like to see where you take it. Best, Colin

  2. Hi – Thanks for all the kind comments. This image is definitely a new direction for me. I must admit that its making was more a happy surprise than planning. Since I try to post an image a day, sometimes I have to make images when I run short of material.
In this case, I had a ho-hum shot of a flowering bush in front of the Anthropologie store. When I inverted the image, the purples and picks appeared. Then, I worked on combining the image with this shot of birch trees with a path, http://www.dorothyphoto.com/dorothy_photo/2006/06/freeman_patters_1.html.
Now, I guess the challenge is trying to re-create the effect with other pairs (or triples) of images.
    Thanks!
    Dorothy
