Based on my portfolio class last nite, I decided to go with a drive-by portfolio. Now, the drive-bys are not as popular as the traditional landscapes with the group, but I realized I do want to do the drive-by portfolio. So today, I was working at home and Chip is home in time for us to eat lunch together. I talked him into driving me down to Santa Clara just so I can photograph for my portfolio. What an odd twist. "No, Chip do not slow down — I need to take a shot!"

Last nite, I brought work prints of all my Yosemite images (at least those processed). For an 8 minute window, we passed the prints around the room. I just asked for checks on images that folks liked. The results were very interesting. This one almost everyone liked. The Drive-By series was not as popular as my classic landscapes but I think I may make a portfolio out of them anyway. Later, I found of the subset of folks who liked them that they invoked a strong reaction.

This image may represent the most processing that I have ever done. It is an panoramic HDR with 5 vertical slices. Each slice is 7 bracketed exposures. I tried processing twice with errors. The third time was the charm.

This one shows the intense yellow foliage in the Yosemite valley. This caused havoc with my white balance and there are several images that have very cyan stones. At this point, I am not sure how to color correct these images. So, they may end up posted in black and white instead.

This one was taken while hiking the Mirror Lake trail along Tenaya Creek. I had planned to take water shots of the creek but the water was totally gone at this time of year.

Today, I had a request for a Yosemite image other than the Drive-By series. So here are backlighted oaks in Cooks Meadow. I did bracket and use HDR image to hold details in the glowing leaves and foreground.
