Photo Friday – Delicate

Yesterday, I visited Napa on an outing with Aphra and the camera club. This is from the Copia winery where we all met and then dispersed.

I have started processing my raw with Pixmantec’s Rawshooter. Even at a short time, I am starting to prefer it to Photoshop’s camera raw. I can get much closer to my final output in Rawshooter. I like the sharpening, separate highlight and shadow contrast, and vibrance (just in premium version) controls to name a few. It is also easy to copy and paste settings when I shoot a panorama.

Photo Friday – Darkness

This week’s Photo Friday theme was difficult for me. Darkness conjures up negative emotions which is not what I want for my photography. So, I decided to try a nite shot. This is my first attempt at nite photography. Chip came as a chaperone to Lake Elizabeth. There was a car that kept cruising by, we were sprinkled, and the lights kept flicking on and off.

Photo Friday – Burn

This is an extreme closeup of a light bulb filament. This is one of those decorative clear bulbs shaped like a candle flame. I used my Lensbaby with an extension tube to get close enough. I decided that the orange cast did not do must for me so I tweaked the colors. I am not sure but I think all those donut highlights are really out-of-focus dust spots. I did clean the lamp after the shot.

Remember your Camera

Last week, I rushed Chip and the dogs out to Sunol before the light went. Well, we were unloading the dogs when I realized that I had forgotten my camera! I used my little Canon S1 instead and worked without a tripod (because I forgot that too). This was was handheld at a 1/30 of a second and still pretty sharp I guess the image stabilization works after fall.

Bouquet

Flowers4
Tonite, I got around to playing with our new scanner.  After taking the fine art printing course at SFAI, Michael Creedon showed prints made from scans of flowers.  I bought this cheery bouquet and gave it a shot.  I think that artistically arranging the flowers is tougher than it looks but fun to try.  Chip has had great fun scanning all his old shots.
