Redwoods Park 2005-01-23

Went with Aran to Redwoods Regional Park. We had a lot of run wandering along the stream. At about the halfway point, the sun came and out then I could pull out the infrared camera. I even went bushwacking up to get one of the shots. Going up was easy but coming down ended up sliding down on my rear. Hopefully, Aran got some keepers from her shooting.

Lens Baby

I read about a funky little lens called a Lens Baby. It is described as a love child between a old-fashioned bellows camera and a stuffy tilt-shift lens. When you look at if from the side, it looks like a child’s Fisher Price screw.

The lens baby has virtually no point in focus and every shot of even of the same scene turns out differently. I will have to try out a photo trip which I only use the Lens Baby. I need to perfect my “fingertip” focusing technique.

Weekend 01-16-2005

Spent most of the weekend using my new infrared camera. On Saturday, went with Aphra to Ardenwood. We were trying to shoot the Monarch butterflies that are roosting there. However, we only saw a few fluttering around and none roosting.

On Sunday, took the girls for a walk out in Sunol. It was a beautiful sunny day and perfect for infrared. Took several panoramas and found it fun to shoot with the streaming sunlight.

Still have to practice more with infrared because the results are surprising.
